IT COULDN'T BE DONE

IT COULDN'T BE DONE

YOU CAN DO IT - Inspiration Line

Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
But he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn't," but he would be one
Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried.

So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
on his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, AND HE DID IT.

Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it";

But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he'd begun it.

With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, AND HE DID IT.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.

But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That "cannot be done," and YOU'LL DO IT.

ANOTHER CHANCE

... WISHING ...
FOR ANOTHER CHANCE

Wishing...

Do you wish the world were better?
Let me tell you what to do.
Set a watch upon your actions,
Keep them always straight and true.
Rid your mind of selfish motives,
Let your thoughts be clean and high.
You can make a little Eden
Of the sphere you occupy.

Do you wish the world were wiser?
Well, suppose you make a start,
By accumulating wisdom
In the scrapbook of your heart;
Do not waste one page on folly;
Live to learn, and learn to live.
If you want to give men knowledge
You must get it, ere you give.

Do you wish the world were happy?
Then remember day by day
Just to scatter seeds of kindness
As you pass along the way,
For the pleasures of the many
May be ofttimes traced to one.
As the hand that plants an acorn
Shelters armies from the sun.

Another Chance

How often we wish for another chance
to make a fresh beginning.
A chance to blot out our mistakes
And change failure into winning.

It does not take a new day
To make a brand new start,
It only takes a deep desire
To try with all our heart.

To live a little better
And to always be forgiving
And to add a little sunshine
To the world in which we're living.

So never give up in despair
And think that you are through,
For there's always a tomorrow
And the hope of starting new.

START WHERE YOU STAND

START WHERE YOU STAND

Inspiration Line Beginning

Start where you stand and never mind the past,
The past won't help you in beginning new,
If you have left it all behind at last,
Why, that's enough, you're done with it, you're through.

This is another chapter in the book,
This is another race that you have planned,
Don't give the vanished days a backward look,
Start where you stand.

The world won't care about your old defeats
If you can start anew and win success,
The future is your time, and time is fleet
And there is much of work and strain and stress.

Forget the buried woes and dead despairs,
Here is a brand new trial right at hand,
The future is for him who does and dares,
Start where you stand.

Old failures will not halt, old triumphs aid,
Today's the thing, tomorrow soon will be;
Get in the fight and face it unafraid,
And leave the past to ancient history.

What has been, has been; yesterday is dead
And by it you are neither blessed nor banned,
Take courage, man, be brave and drive ahead,
Start where you stand.

God is AMAZING!!!

I was driving down the M4 on the 19th December 2008 when I ran out of fuel. I knew I needed to get some but I thought I could make it back to Reading. However, as I was going around 80mph in the fast lane the car started to lose power. I managed to get over into the hard shoulder before the car completely stopped. As I sat in the car, I pulled out my phone to make a call for help -- and the phone battery COMPLETELY died!
I'm now sitting in a car without fuel, no means of phoning anyone for help, and miles from Reading. I decided to walk to the next service station. I got out of the car and started to walk --- while I prayed "God, I need your help!".

After about 5mins a car pulled over in front of me onto the hard shoulder. When I got next to the car a man opened the door, and said: "Where do you want to go?". It turned out that he was going to Reading, and took me all the way to my house!!!

As we were driving he kept saying, "I stopped because I recognise your face, but I just can't place you". It turned out that he had seen me in Reading town centre preaching on the outreach!!! His name is Leroy, I witnessed to him all the way back -- and he got saved & prayed to receive Christ outside my front door!!!!

God is AMAZING!!!

I learnt some valueable lessons today:
1. When things seem impossible pray & step out -- Leroy never would have seen my face if I had stayed in the car
2. Do God's work with joy & zeal -- Leroy recognised me from outreach & THAT'S why he stopped
3. God works in ways we cannot even comprehend -- trust Him
4. Give people the gospel -- God brings them your way for a reason
5. Next time put petrol in the car!

Believe God! Step out! God will meet you!

Good Morning...........

One rainy afternoon I was driving along one of the main streets of town, taking those extra precautions necessary when the
roads are wet and slick.
Suddenly, my daughter, Aspen, spoke up from her relaxed position in her seat. "Dad, I'm thinking of something."
This announcement usually meant she had been pondering some fact for a while, and was now ready to expound all that her six-year-old mind had discovered. I was eager to hear.
"What are you thinking?" I asked.
"The rain!" she began, "is like sin, and the windshield wipers are like God wiping our sins away."
After the chill bumps raced up my arms I was able to respond. "That's really good, Aspen."
Then my curiosity broke in. How far would this little girl take this revelation? So I asked... "Do you notice how the rainwater
keeps on coming? What does that tell you?"
Aspen didn't hesitate one moment with her answer:
"We keep on sinning, and God just keeps on forgiving us." I will always remember this whenever I turn my wipers on.

In order to see the rainbow, you must first endure some rain.
It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend.

Christmas Letter from Jesus

Christmas Letter from Jesus

Dear Children,

It has come to my attention that many you are upset that folks
are taking My name out of the season. Maybe you've forgotten
that I wasn't actually born during this time of the year and
that it was some of your predecessors who decided to celebrate
My birthday on what was actually a time of pagan festival.
Although I do appreciate being remembered anytime.

How I personally feel about this celebration can probably be
most easily understood by those of you who have been blessed
with children of your own.

I don't care what you call the day. If you want to celebrate
My birth, just GET ALONG AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

Now, having said that let Me go on. If it bothers you that the
town in which you live doesn't allow a scene depicting My
birth, then just get rid of a couple of Santa's and snowmen
and put in a small Nativity scene on your own front lawn. If
all My followers did that there wouldn't be any need for such
a scene on the town square because there would be many of them
all around town.

Stop worrying about the fact that people are calling the tree
a holiday tree, instead of a Christmas tree. It was I who made
all trees. You can remember Me anytime you see any tree.
Decorate a grape vine if you wish: I actually spoke of that
one in a teaching, explaining who I am in relation to you and
what each of our tasks were. If you have forgotten that one,
look up John 15: 1 - 8.

If you want to give Me a present in remembrance of My birth
here is my wish list. Choose something from it:

1. Instead of writing protest letters objecting to the way My
birthday is being celebrated, write letters of love and hope
to soldiers away from home. They are terribly afraid and
lonely this time of year. I know, they tell Me all the time.

2. Visit someone in a nursing home. You don't have to know
them personally. They just need to know that someone cares
about them.

3. Instead of writing George complaining about the wording on
the cards his staff sent out this year, why don't you write
and tell him that you'll be praying for him and his family
this year. Then follow up. It will be nice hearing from you
again.

4. Instead of giving your children a lot of gifts you can't
afford and they don't need, spend time with them. Tell them
the story of My birth, and why I came to live with you down
here. Hold them in your arms and remind them that I love
them.

5. Pick someone that has hurt you in the past and forgive him
or her.

6. Did you know that someone in your town will attempt to take
their own life this season because they feel so alone and
hopeless? Since you don't know who that person is, try giving
everyone you meet a warm smile; it could make the difference.

7. Instead of nit picking about what the retailer in your town
calls the holiday, be patient with the people who work there.
Give them a warm smile and a kind word. Even if they aren't
allowed to wish you a "Merry Christmas" that doesn't keep you
from wishing them one. Then stop shopping there on Sunday.
If the store didn't make so much money on that day they'd
close and let their employees spend the day at home with their
families.

8. If you really want to make a difference, support a
missionary - especially one who takes My love and Good News to
those who have never heard My name.

9. Here's a good one. There are individuals and whole
families in your town who not only will have no "Christmas"
tree, but neither will they have any presents to give or
receive. If you don't know them, buy some food and a few
gifts and give them to the Salvation Army or some other
charity which believes in Me and they will make the delivery
for you.

10. Finally, if you want to make a statement about your belief
in and loyalty to Me, then behave like a Christian. Don't do
things in secret that you wouldn't do in My presence. Let
people know by your actions that you are one of mine.

Don't forget; I am God and can take care of Myself. Just love
Me and do what I have told you to do. I'll take care of all
the rest.

Check out the list above and get to work; time is short. I'll
help you, but the ball is now in your court. And do have a
most blessed Christmas with all those whom you love and
remember:
I LOVE YOU, JESUS

The Legend of the Candy Cane

Look at the Candy Cane
What do you see?
Stripes that are red
Like the blood shed for me
White is for my Savior
Who's sinless and pure!
"J" is for Jesus, My Lord, that's for sure!
Turn it around
And a staff you will see
Jesus my shepherd
Was born for Me!

Many years ago, a candy maker wanted to make a candy at Christmas time that would serve as a witness to his Christian faith. He wanted to incorporate several symbols for the birth, ministry and death of Jesus. He began with a stick of pure white hard candy; white to symbolize the Virgin Birth and the sinless nature of Jesus; hard to symbolize the solid rock, the foundation of the Church; firmness to represent the promise of God. The candymaker made the candy in the form of a "J" to represent the name of Jesus, who came to earth as our Savior. He thought it could also represent the staff of the Good Shepherd, with which he reached down into the ditches of the world to lift out the fallen lambs who, like all sheep, have gone astray.

Thinking that the candy was somewhat plain, the candymaker stained it with red stripes. He used three small stripes to show the stripes of the scourging Jesus received, by which we are healed. The large red stripe was for the blood shed by Christ on the cross so that we could have the promise of eternal life. Unfortunately, the candy became known as a candy cane - a meaningless decoration seen at Christmas time. But the true meaning is still there for those who have eyes to see and ears to hear.

ANGELS IN MY LIFE

ANGELS IN MY LIFE

Inspiration line Angels

There have been angels in my life,
While they haven't arrived with a blast of trumpets
Or a rustle of wings, I've known them just the same.

They performed their acts in human guise,
Sometimes borrowing the faces of family and friends,
Sometimes in the form of a stranger lending a hand.

You have known them, too,
When just the right word was needed,
When a tiny act of kindness made a great difference.

Or perhaps you heard a voice whispering in the night of sorrow,
The words not quite clear but the meaning unmistakable:
"There is hope, There is hope."

May your angels watch over you
And always keep you safe
And whisper in your ear
To banish hate and fear.

"Angels may not dress the part, with robes and wings that soar;
Often angels come as friends, knocking at your door.

~~! ~~ Isn`t it strange ~~!~~

Isn't it strange how people meet
Sometimes in the craziest places,
Isn't it strange that they become friends
Without even seeing their faces?

Isn't it strange how a word or two
Can create a tear in your eye,
Isn't it strange that poetry
Does these things, but we wonder why?

Isn't it strange that although distant
A friendship can take root,
And isn't it strange that gentle words
Almost make problems mute?

Not often enough in life we find
Someone who can lift our heart,
Not often enough do we thank someone
For making our pulsing heart spark.

By sharing ourselves with each other
We can learn so very much,
And all we must do to succeed
Is somehow keep in touch.

Isn't it strange, though easy
We fail to take the time,
To express thoughts from our being
As a poet sets words to rhyme?

Wouldn't the world be better
If our thoughts we could somehow arrange,
To share our love with one another
So perplexing; isn't it strange?

Beth and David made a deal that they would diet through the week but treat themselves to a night out each week at one of their favorite restaurants. Restaurant night became the best night of the week. Both Beth and David agreed that they had never enjoyed their food so much as when they only splurged one time a week. They grew to appreciate how good it really was. It helped to make even ordinary meals special and delicious. God has offered us special things to eat. He has created so much to make our lives interesting and varied. We must enjoy these things discreetly and unselfishly. If we will enjoy them within God's plan, then He will reward us with fruit from the tree of life, which will be the finest food we could ever want.

Today's thought: God's foo d is eternal, and it isn't fattening!

You’re Fired!

You’re Fired!

"You're fired." Some people let the phrase get to them. Others
use it as a launching pad to superstardom. In his book, "We're
Fired...and It's the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Us,"
Harvey Mackay brings us some inspirational stories of rejects
turned-celebrities. Turns out the road to fame isn't so smooth.

Elvis Presley
The King got fired from a music studio in 1954. He was told,
"You ain't goin' nowhere, son. Go back and drive a truck." Tell
that to the thousands of Elvis impersonators who sing his tunes
decades after his death.

Walt Disney
Walt Disney was fired from a newspaper for lack of ideas. The
Walt Disney Company, with its animated movies, theme parks,
television stations and more, is now a multibillion-dollar
empire.

Joanne Kathleen (a.k.a. J.K.) Rowling
The author of the mega-popular Harry Potter books was canned
from a secretarial job after she got caught using the company
computer to write creative stories. She used her severance pay
to write Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, using grant
money to finish it after she ran out of cash. The Harry Potter
series became a global craze and Rowling became a billionaire.

Lance Armstrong
The French cycling team Cofidis dropped Lance Armstrong after he
began treatment for testicular cancer in 1997 (with just a 50
percent chance of survival). They even refused to pay his
remaining salary or his medical bills. Big mistake. Armstrong
not only beat the cancer, but he also won a record sixth
consecutive Tour de France in 2004.

Larry King
Before he ruled CNN, Larry King wrote a column for the Miami
Herald. The Herald's editor fired him for being too chummy with
his subjects. His way with people paid off, though; few
politicians or celebrities ever bypass "Larry King Live."

Burt Reynolds
"You can't act," Burt Reynolds was told when he was fired from
one of his acting jobs. He later became the No. 1 box office
draw for five consecutive years.

Steve Jobs
He co-founded Apple Computer in his garage, and then got fired
from his own company. Jobs picked up the pieces and bought a
majority share in Pixar in 1986. Nine years later, he won an
Oscar for Toy Story. In 1996, he was back at Apple.

Abraham Lincoln
Abe Lincoln failed in business 1831 and again in 1833. In the
meantime, he ran for state legislator and lost. His sweetheart
died in 1835, and he had a nervous breakdown the next year. He
lost the nomination to Congress in 1843, was defeated again for
Congress in 1848 and 1855 and lost the vice presidency of the
United States in 1856. Then he ran for Senator in 1858 and lost.

In 1860 Abe Lincoln was elected president of the United States.
The rest is history.

When the going gets Tough...

When the going gets Tough...

much more ....

James 1:12
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Shelley was thrilled when she was named homecoming queen. It had been a dream of hers since childhood. When she knew she was in the running, she began to diet. Weight had always been a struggle for her. This time she had great motivation, and that made all the difference in the world. She prayed for God's help, and He gave her the determination she needed to diet-and to win the crown. The crown of the pageant was one thing, but Shelley knew God had given her much more than that. Through faith, she had received life everlasting and a share in the victory of Christ Jesus.

Today's thought: My diet will end, but the lessons learned from it will last a lifetime!

My name is Gossip.

My name is Gossip.

I gather strength with age.

The more I am quoted,
The more I am believed.

I flourish at every level of society.

My victims are helpless.
I have no respect for justice.
I break hearts and ruin lives.

I am cunning, malicious

They cannot protect themselves
Against me because
I have no name and no face.

To track me down is impossible.
The harder you try, the more
Elusive I become.

I am nobody's friend.

Once I tarnish a reputation,
It is never the same.

I topple governments and
Wreck marriages.
I ruin careers and cause
Sleepless nights, heartaches
And indigestion.
I spawn suspicion
And generate grief.

I make innocent people cry
In their pillows.
Even my name hisses.

I am called GOSSIP.
Office gossip-
Shop gossip-
Party gossip-
Telephone gossip.
I make Headlines
And
Headaches.
REMEMBER,
You repeat a story,
Ask yourself:
Is it true?
Is it fair?
Is it necessary??
If not,
Do NOT repeat it.
